On Saturday we made a MESS of our back patio with our food storage. We went all out and dry packed 100 #10 cans of various foods. Maybe 100 cans doesn't seem like a lot to some people, but it was quite a few for us. A GREAT addition to our Food Storage. :)
Well, not only did we dry pack the food...lots ended up on us. Mostly on purpose. Guess who started it? Not me...not Jakob...not Zae...not Ben. Of course, JON! (Silly Daddy!)
Some of the different things we did:
Flour, Quick Oats, Dried Apples, Pasta, Pinto Beans, and Rice.
We checked out the canner from the Mesa Cannery. You can borrow it for up to 3 days. What we need now is some Potato Pearls or Potato Flakes, some Powdered Milk and some popcorn.
We are turning our computer room into a Food Storage Room. It doesn't have any windows, and it is in the basement...so it is the ideal place to keep our food storage. It would get too hot in their with 2 or 3 computers going, anyways. We will probably move the desk out to the TV area, since that is really where Jon likes to be on the computer, anyways. None of us really like to hole up in the 'dungeon' room. It's away from the rest of the family. Plus, with Jakob getting older, and probably wanting to do e-mail, and play some games on the computer, better to have it out where we all are.
Anyways...back to Food Storage. I am coming up with a lot of interesting ideas. Implementing them I am not so great at...if I have any progress, I will be sure and take pictures...but don't hold your breath. LOL
When Zae and I stopped by to drop of the canner today, there was a mini class going on. It was talking about getting our 3 months supply, and some different ideas. I hope to get more organized, and really start working toward getting a well rounded 3 months supply.
