Who are our teachers?

I have learned silence from the talkative, toleration from the intolerant, and kindness from the unkind; yet, strange, I am ungrateful to those teachers.

I often think the difficult times that we go through are nothing but misery. indeed i am ungrateful for having to go through them. Most of the time when I come out the other side of a difficult situation i am prone to saying, "well that was no fun" and "glad that is over". yes I am being ungrateful. but as years pass and i forget the sharpness of the pain I look back and see all that I learned and all that i grew from those few moments in time. perhaps I will one day become grateful to 'those' teachers.
