Today while coming home from errands (Never go on errands during rush hour, it takes 3 times as long to get home)while parked in traffic, Jakob saw some guys walking along the sidewalk and asked me if I was going to give them a ride. I said that they didn't need a ride, and we weren't going to be giving them a ride. (There have been a couple of occasions~which obviously he remembers too well, where I have given someone a ride. An old lady and her grandaughter walking home with like 12 bags of groceries~a lady walking from a yardsale trying to carry some heavy stuff she got, not living very close by)
I then tried to explain why you had to be careful with whom you gave a ride. And to leave that type of decision up to Mom's and Dad's. At that point we drove by a few other people walking. I noticed the wording on the back of one of the boy's jackets. So, I decided now was a good time to point out that you don't just pick up anyone. I said to Jakob, 'guess what the back of his jacket says?' He asked what?. 'It says ~Killers~, that's why you can't just pick up anyone...cause you don't know them.' He pauses a moment then says, 'Well, it's just a shirt'. Hhmm...I wonder if I have gotten the point across, yet.
