We had our Ward Campout. It was supposed to be for only one night, but we decided to extend it a little, and camp for 2 nights. Not in the pines, or near a lake or stream. But in the desert. That's a new one for me. The weather was very nice, though.
It was nice to get away, and not have to worry about appointments, phone (ok, so I had my cell phone, and I did get service, but I didn't use it hardly at all.)
Some of the things we enjoyed were hiking, playing games, skits, camp fire, food, roasting marshmallows, and can't forget my 'gourmet' mushrooms/bacon/provolone cheese wraps over the fire. Yum!
Our kiddos (including Kaylee and Bethany) did a skit and sang to the song 'attitude' from 'Power Tunes'. I always sing this song to my children. I grew up with Power Tunes, and I really want to get a copy of it. The chorus of the song goes: It's your attitude, attitude that makes you do the things you do, attitude, attitude makes you what you are. You gotta be kind you gotta wanna share, you gotta be a friend you gotta wanna care! It's your attitude that makes you.
I really want to get my camping gear more condensed and practical. Taking only useful things when we go camping. Not a lot of fluff, or things that end up not being used. But having the things needed to be comfortable. Making a list would be a great idea. And honing that list each time we go camping.
