Jakob got baptized yesterday! What a special day! We are very excited for this step in his life. It is scary at the same time...he is now the age of accountability. Responsible for his actions. Oh my!
Today it was interesting...Kaylee said that Jakob got baptized yesterday, and already he is being mean to his sister. Guess I should have given the demonstration that I had planned for the talk I gave. I had planned to write a number of 'wrong choices' on the white board, and explain to him that through repentance and baptism he could get the wrong choices wiped away. I did explain to him this...but the 'visual' demonstration may have been more effective.
In my talk I basically went through the 4th article of Faith. That he 1st had to have faith. Faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Then he had to repent and be sorry for any wrong doings. And promise to Heavenly Father that he would do his Best. And that we were there supporting him in his decision to Follow Christ's example, and to be baptized. That when he was baptized his wrong decisions would be wiped clean, and he had a clean slate. I explained that he would be receiving the Holy Ghost through his confirmation. That the Holy Ghost could be his constant 'friend'. There to help him decide between right and wrong. When he felt bad or uncomfortable about something, it means that it isn't the right choice.
Since we chose to only do one talk during his baptism, I was able to talk about the Holy Ghost. I think that I really like the idea of only one talk. I feel that Baptism and receiving the Holy Ghost go hand in hand, and to have to separate them into 2 talks, it can sometimes be difficult...also, the possibility of a more drawn out meeting. ;)
It was fun to see the family for the weekend. The kiddos spent a lot of the time swimming in our pool. We also went to WALL-E We had 10 kiddos, 16 and under in our house for 3 days. That doesn't include Kaylee and Bethany. They also spent quite a bit of time here. :)
