Baptism X 2

Destiny & Drake just got baptized a couple of days ago. :) Drake is in my Scout Den, and Destiny comes over sometimes and plays with the kiddos. I am so happy for these kiddos. I really, really hope that they will remember their special baptism day. And that it will help buoy them up during any trials they may face throughout the next years, and their life.

I did a talk on the Holy Ghost. This is the talk I had written out:

He is the Comforter (John 14:26). As the soothing voice of a loving parent can quiet a crying child, the whisperings of the Spirit can calm our fears, hush the nagging worries of our life, and comfort us when we grieve. The Holy Ghost can fill us "with hope and perfect love" and "teach [us] the peaceable things of the kingdom" (Moroni 8:26; D&C 36:2).

The gift of the Holy Ghost is different from the influence of the Holy Ghost. Before baptism, a person can feel the influence of the Holy Ghost from time to time and through that influence can receive a testimony of the truth. After receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, a person has the right to the constant companionship of that member of the Godhead if he or she keeps the commandments.

Remember that "the Spirit of the Lord doth not dwell in unholy temples" (Helaman 4:24). Even though you have received the gift of the Holy Ghost, the Spirit will dwell with you only when you keep the commandments. He will withdraw if you offend Him by profanity, uncleanliness, disobedience, rebellion, or other sins. Keep yourself clean. Fill your life with goodness so you can be worthy of the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. -True to the Faith -2004-

I didn't completely follow this though, I just kinda shot from the hip, so I am not exactly sure what I said...I did bring up the fact that when we are keeping the commandments, the spirit stays close to us. (I used a couple of strong magnets as an analogy). And that when we are not following his commandments, and aren't making good choices, the spirit withdraws. (I showed how powerfully the magnets pulled together, when they were faced the right way, but if you turned one over, they repelled off of the other.)

The following day, on Sunday, they were confirmed. All in all, a couple of great days. :)
