It has been a bit since we have written anything in our 'blog'. Thought I would share a couple of fun stories. Jakob is right at the age that he puts an interesting 'twist' on the world around him. I wish I could capture all of his creative words and concepts.
For example...a couple of weeks ago we FINALLY changed the lightbulb above our stairs. It is quite a distance up there, so it's not just an easy matter of taking one lightbulb out, and putting a new one in...so we had put it off for months. Robert bought a couple of the longer lasting florecent bulbs, so I figured the stairwell light was one of the best places to use a 'longer lasting' bulb. Well...after getting it replaced (quite the ordeal) Jakob noticed that the light was now working. He asked whoe had fixed it. I said that Daddy and I had. With big eyes, he asked how we did it. I said that I had climbed on Daddy's shoulders, then reached up and opened the window, and used the windowseal as a place to stand. His eyes got wider, and he said "Wow!...if I was a zapper, I could push rewind, and watch you do that."
Well, today Jakob had another interesting 'twist' on his world around him. I need to 'set the stage' a bit, to make sense of it..
This month my Grandfather passed away. He was 84 years, old. In trying to explain everything to our son, we shared how great grandpa's spirit was now in Heaven with Jesus. And that only his body was here, and that he would be buried. We took him to the viewing, so that he could see his great-grandpa. He later shared with me that he had given him a 'hand kiss'. I have a sweet image in my mind of my little Jakob looking at his great grandpa, trying to make sense of it all. Teary eyed, and sensative. Kissing his hand and placing it on the powdered cheek of my grandpa. I wish I would have been there to see it...
Jakob was quite emotional...a couple people asked if he had allergies or a cold. No, he was just sad that his great grandpa, who he wasn't able to get to know really well, was no longer there. Jakob has always been more sensative, like that.
Now back to today...while out helping grandma (my Mom) in the green house, He found a potato bug. Well, this potato bug was rolled up in a ball, and wasn't moving, even when prodded. So, Jakob decided that it was a great grandpa potato bug, because it had died. So he decided that it needed to be buried, because great grandpa had been buried.
