Earlier today, Jakob came up to me and told me about some eggs that he found. I asked him where he had found them and he told me he found them along the trail outside. I mentioned that it is important NOT to touch eggs, because then the Mamma bird won't come back and take care of them, but he exclaimed that there wasn't a Mamma bird, and further explained that there was one big egg...and then some smaller ones. He also said that he had made a nest for them and that I needed to come and see.
By this point I was really curious what he had been up to, and WHERE these eggs had come from. So off we go to check it out. Jakob led the way out, followed closely by Zaelynn, then me. Well, just outside on the carport, Zaelynn picked up a middlesized rock, and said 'Egg!'...Jakob scoffed, and said 'that isn't an egg, it's a rock.' And continued on.
We got to a pile of green weeds. Jakob told me that that was his nest, he picked up the weeds, and nestled underneath were half a dozen smaller 'eggs', and one larger 'egg'...that just happened to look a lot like Zaelynn's 'egg' a few seconds prior. Yup, they were rocks! ~Laugh~
