kiddo update

Zaelynn has been more and more observant with everything around her. She is someimtes 'offended' by things done or said. Say a toy is taken away from her, or she gets in trouble for not sharing. She will say 'you're not my friend no more', really fast. She used to say 'I nate nou' (her version of I hate you). I would always say back to her, 'I love you, too'. Even Jakob would say that to her. She didn't like that, but she stopped saying 'I nate nou'. So it worked. ;) She and Jakob have tatteling 'down pat'. They are always pointing fingers at each other. Zae loves to 'primp'. She doesn't really like her own hair brushed, but she likes to comb or brush my hair, or whomever will sit still for her. Oh, one of her favorite 'girly' things is having her toenails painted. (They are hot pink, right now.) Her hair is getting SO long! I can't wait to see if it will soon reach her waist. I have a friend that says she looks like a little cabbage patch doll.

Jakob is starting to grasp things a little better at kindergarten. I think he would actually be doing fine in a 'normal' public school kindergarten, yet he is in a school that is more accelerated. They are doing kindergarten and some 1st grade work. He will most likely be taking kindergarten there again next year. We could move him up to 1st grade at another school, but I really like Ben Franklins curriculum. Their phonics program is really good. I just wish they had a little more 'extracurricular' activities. Like more music or art. They are very acadimic based. To me, it seems Jakob leans more toward the creative personality. He loves doing 'projects'. He loves riding his bike, skates, etc. And just being outside, in general. He always loves to say that he is going to be a chef when he grows up. Jakob's birthday is in September, so his b-day is right on the borderline. Him being small for his age, it will probably be more advantageous to have him repeat.

Benajamin had his G.I. appointment a couple of days ago. He had only gained 2 ounces since the previous appointment. Where the previous appointment he had supposedly gainded about 10oz. They hardly give me any time between appointments to get him into a good routine, before they are wanting to see and weigh him again. So, now THEY are talking a hospital visit. Ggrrr. They also want him to go on 2 medications. Reglan~helps the digestion. Prevacid~prevents acid. Well, the pharmacy didn't have the prevacid, so we started him on reglan. He isn't throwing up. I have given him a little Zantac, when he seems a little 'urpy'. I would rather not start him on the prevacid, if I don't have to. If using the Reglan works...why give him another medication that he doesn't need, that I really don't want him to be on? I guess we shall see. Oh, Benjamin's weight is 17 lbs 13 oz. I am hoping we can turn him from rear facing by his 2nd b-day. (You have to be at least 1 year old AND 20 lbs to safely put a child in a forward facing carseat.)

I need to start carrying around a notebook and pen, to catch some of the unique phrases and conversations that I have with our children. They amaze me with the things they grasp, the impressions the gather and the connections they make:

Yesterday we were in the Van and Jakob noticed a guy walking down the sidewalk. Jakob said 'he has a weed in his teeth, he must be a farmer'. He says that that is how you knew is someone is a farmer, they have a weed in their teeth. (hehee) Then he clarified, saying that he liked to chew on a weed, too...but he wasn't a farmer, he just liked the taste of it. ~K, going to go get a picture of Jakob with a weed in his teeth...
