Going to the Cox Reunion was pretty ok, this year. Always nice to see extended family, and re-acquaint with them. I am actually amazed at how much Jon has taken to going to this reunion. He looks forward to it almost as much as I and the kiddos do. I think he enjoys an opportunity to camp...and he LOVES being Mafia Narrator. (A game we learned a number of years back, that kids from 9 to 99 seem to enjoy...depending on their personality...I know Jon will probably love it until he is 99. LOL) I was the 'wet blanket' that convinced it was time to get some sleep (cause I didn't want to be the only one dealing with kiddos bright an early the next morning.)
Pauline, Shelley & I walked down the river quite a ways (Shelley & I didn't have shoes on) It got pretty rough. We wanted to go see the old 'Rock' Where we used to jump off, and there was a pretty deep hole, and a fun current to ride. Someone said that it had been filled in, so we wanted to check it out...we didn't quite make it that far, though. We tried 'riding' the river back to camp. That didn't work so well, since the water level was VERY low.
We played this fun game that Pauline introduced. You have a box, and everyone gets a turn to grab it with their teeth...you can't use your hands or arms...you just have to bend over and bite it. It's kinda like the limbo in how you get eliminated. Everyone gets their turn, then the box is cut shorter, etc. If you can't bend over and pick it up, you are eliminated. Well...there were a few of the people that were so good...the box wasn't a big enough challenge. So Pauline & Curtis came up with the idea of putting a peanut M&M on a plastic lid, sitting on a small mound of dirt. Still not big enough challenge...so the mound got smaller, then a hole was dug INTO the ground. Still people were able lean/stoop/bend/contort themselves over enough to get that M&M. It was quite a feat. Only a handful of people were able to actually get the M&M with it in the hole.
